The Different Types of Heart Disease
Do you suffer from heart disease?
If you do, what kind?
What do you mean, what kind? Are there different types of heart disease?
Yep. There are several. And we will get to them in a moment.
But before we look at all the various types, have a look at what Dr. Lundell, a renown heart surgeon, has to say about the causes for heart disease. This may surprise you!
You might want to take a look at Dr. Lundell’s book, which reveals in detail what he describes as the “great cholesterol lie.”
This publication outlines a detailed program for defeating inflammation which leads to heart disease and heart attack.

Let’s look at some of the various types of heart problems you, or your loved one, might encounter.
Oh, and by the way, I’m sorry to tell you that it’s possible to have more than one type at the same time.
1. Genetic predisposition for heart disease.
That’s when you inherit this medical problem from your parents or grandparents.
A person may have been born with an actual heart abnormality which may require immediate surgery to correct.
On the other hand, doctors may advise that it is best to wait for several years before the necessary surgery is performed.
In any case, this type of heart problem is something you are born with.
Like what?
Well, because of inherited health traits, you may be a more likely candidate for arterial blockage which builds up over time.
This is why your doctor almost always asks: “Any heart problems in your family?”
Thanks, dad.
(in all fairness, mom or dad just inherited it, too. Family predisposition can go back many, many generations.)
There are some other factors, too, which may contribute to heart disease over which you have no control.
A few examples are age, gender, and ethnicity.
Now, then, if you inherited these “heart problems” you’re not automatically out of the game.
But if you want to stay in the game, you will have to do some training; some conditioning.
That means hard work, exercise, a heart healthy diet, and regular meetings with the coach — in this case, your doctor.
To take this analogy just a step farther– you can’t fake this.
If you don’t put in the conditioning, 0n game day it’s going to show.
No bluffing. Nada. Won’t work.
I know, I know. But whoever said life was fair?
2. Coronary Artery Diease or CAD.
When angina is experienced, there is a feeling of heaviness — a squeezing or tightness in the chest area.
Sometimes angina attacks are mistaken for heartburn or indigestion.
Other symptoms of CAD include accelerated heartbeat, excessive sweating and shortness of breath.
If you are have any of these feelings, get thee to thy physician.
You may have coronary artery disease which leads to — a Heart Attack!
Don’t mess with this.
3. Myocardial Infarction (MI) — a severe type of heart disease.
Symptoms are comparable to those of coronary artery disease, but they increase considerably.
They can start off mild then slowly worsen and they usually last more than half an hour.
They also don’t respond to drugs or respite. Heart attack victims need to seek treatment immediately.
Okay, moving on.
4. Arrhythmia or Abnormal Heart Rhythm.
One category of arrhythmia is called atrial fibrillation (AF) where the upper chambers of the heart do not function properly.
Arrhythmia often is characterized by heart palpitations, weakness, or fainting spells.
5. Heart Valve Disease.
Symptoms include shortness of breath, feelings of weakness, heart palpitations, dizziness, and chest discomfort that is particularly marked when moving from warm air to cold air.
If these symptoms go unchecked and are followed by heart failure, even more symptoms can be expected.
These include very rapid weight gain, swelling in the belly or abdomen, swelling in the feet and ankles.
The severity of the particular heart disease, however, is not necessarily related to the severity or number of symptoms manifested.
6. Cardiomyopathy, or Heart Muscle Disease. This may affect people of any age and the symptoms are not always noticeable.
Cardiomyopathy symptoms include swelling, palpitations, and fainting. In addition, patients can also experience arrhythmia.
7. Pericarditis
This is one type of heart disease that is markedly different from coronary artery disease.
It causes sharp chest pains that can radiate to the neck, back and arms. The pain worsens while the person is lying down.
Breathing deeply, coughing or swallowing can also bring pain.
Sitting up in a forward position reduces the pressure and eases the pain.
IN CONCLUSION
